Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to Nepal. You will be picked from the airport and will be taken to the hotel. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: All restricted area Permits Procedure and flight to Pokhara
After acquiring the restricted area permits in the first half of the day, we take a 25 minutes flight over the Himalayas to the lovely city of Pokhara. Upon arrival, meet other staffs and get transferred to the hotel. Overnight at a 5-star hotel in Pokhara.
Day 3: Pokhara to Jomsom by flight and trek to Kagbeni 2800m, 3-4 hours
Early morning, we go to the airport in Pokhara to take a flight to Jomsom through the deep Kali Gandaki Gorge. Then, we commence our trek by walking on the riverbed of Kaligandaki River until we arrive in Lubra where we visit the Bon-Po monastery. We then ascend up to Ekleybatti and continue walking on the riverbed until we reach Kagbeni. We can visit the red-painted Gompa in Kagbeni. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Kagbeni.
Day 4: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele 3100m, 5-6 hours
We register our Restricted Area Permit at the check post and then continue walking on the river bank of Kali Gandaki. Moving further towards Tangbe village, we can see lovely sceneries along with colorful Chortens and Mani walls. Then, we continue to move towards Chhusang village crossing over a rocky trail. We then cross over an iron bridge where Kaligandaki River runs through a tunnel. Later, we can see 16 caves above the tunnel. We ascend on a sandy trail until we reach Chele. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Chele.
Day 5: Trek from Chele to Syangboche 3600m via Rachung Cave, 6-7 hours
We make a steep climb as we leave Chele to arrive at the small passes of Taklam La (3624m) and Dajori La (3735m) to reach Samar. Crossing several streams and other small passes, we arrive in Rachung Cave situated on the bank of Syangboche Khola. Rachung Cave is one of the holiest caves in Mustang which had later been converted into a monastery. After spending some time in Rachung Cave exploring the ancient Buddhist art on the cave wall, we descend alongside Syangboche Khola to arrive in Syangboche for the overnight stay. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Syangboche.
Day 6: Trek from Syangboche to Dhakmar 3820m, 5-6 hours
Leaving Syangboche, we move uphill and follow our track to Tamagaon. Move downhill to a large chorten and a village with Tibetans style houses in Chhunggar. Later, ascend across the head of the valley to Nyi La (4020m) with the delightful landscape view of the surrounding villages. The trail then goes downhill to the whitewashed houses of Ghemi. We continue walking further towards the longest Mani wall in Mustang before arriving in Dhakmar. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Dhakmar.
Day 7: Trek from Dhakmar to Lo-Manthang 3810m via Ghar Gompa, 6-7 hours
We bid farewell to this amazing place and head on some new single-track routes. We will have to cross two passes over 4000 meters. We cross Dhakmar Khola on a suspension bridge and move on to Ghar Gompa, one of the oldest Gompas in Upper Mustang. After visiting the monastery, we cross a small river and ascend to reach Chogo-La (4280m). Then, we walk downhill until we reach the walled city of Lo-Manthang. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Lo-Manthang.
Day 8: Exploration Day to Chhosar village and caves 6-7 hours
Today, we explore the palaces, fortress, and monasteries of Lo-Manthang. We also hike to the cultural haven of Chhosar village. In Chhosar, we visit Niphu Monastery, one of the most sacred Buddhist monasteries, and Jhong Cave, the largest man made the cave in Upper Mustang. Jhong Cave is five stories high with 40 rooms decorated with Tibetan scripts and Buddhist murals. After the insightful exploration of Chhosar, we hike back to Lo-Manthang for the overnight stay. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Lo-Manthang.
Day 9: Trek from Lo-Manthang to Yara 3900m, 6-7 hours
Gradually going uphill from Lo-Manthang, we reach Lo-La Pass (3950m). This is the last place where we can see Lo-Manthang. After some ups and downs throughout the trail, we arrive in Dhi village, and then, we make a short vertical ascend alongside Puyung Khola to reach Yara. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Yara.
Day 10: Trek from Yara to Luri Cave Monastery (4005m) 4-5 hours
Today, we trek from Yara to Luri Gompa. Continuing on the river bank, a gradual uphill walk brings us to Luri Cave Monastery. This is an ancient and well-known cave monastery in the Mustang region which was built in the 14th century. Inside the cave, we can see a big ancient Chorten and many pictures and statues of religious figures. There is also a holy Buddhist text which is always closed. Overnight at a tented camp in Luri.
Day 11: Trek from Luri Gompa from Ghuma Thanti 4600m/5-6 hours,
Follow the track that winds up into large pastureland which opens up to a lovely place that gives some overwhelming views of snow-capped mountains. We walk for around five hours and move down to the camp at Ghuma Thanti. Ghuma Thanti is a lovely place that lies near a stream. It is a popular place for pilgrims who come to visit the holy lake of Damodar Kunda. Overnight at a tented camp in Ghuma Thanti.
Day 12: Trek from Ghuma Thanti to Namta Khola 4890/7-8 hours,
Today, the trail requires strenuous walking as we would be required to cross high passes. After crossing Kyuma La (5300m) and Batsyak La (5450m), we reach high the elevation lake Damodar Kunda (4890m). Damodar Kunda is a holy lake visited by Hindu pilgrims and is situated in a rain- shadow zone of the Himalayas, north of the magnificent Annapurna range. We then continue downhill to Namta Khola after passing spending some time at the lake. Stay overnigt at a tented camp in Namta Khola.
Day 13: Trek from Namta Khola to Saribung Base Camp 4950/6-7 hours,
Today, our trek starts from the left bank moraine of Khumjungar Glacier. This part of the trek is quite tough due to the snowy trail. Climbing through Khumjungar Glacier, we reach Saribung Base Camp. At Saribung Base Camp, we are surrounded by many 6000 meters peak from all around. Overnight at a tented camp in Saribung Base Camp.
Day 14: Acclimatization day
Today is an exhilarating day where we scale Saribung Peak (6328m). We start early in the morning and climb up to top of Saribung on the glacial moraine. After ascending for some time, we find a split ice which parts us from the summit by an easy trail with large snow inclines. Once we reach the top, we can get a fine view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges along with Damodar Himal and Chhib Himal ranges. After spending some time at the top, we climb back to the base camp. Overnight at a tented camp in Saribung Base Camp.
Day 15: Trek from Base Camp to Nagoru 4400m via Saribung Pass 5600m,
Today is the highlight of our trek as we cross the frozen Saribung Pass (5600m). We walk on a steep and slippery trail through the snow as we make a strenuous climb on the snowbound Saribung Pass (5600m). Saribung is located in an isolated part of Mustang region and is frozen throughout the year as it lies on the foot of Saribung Peak (6042m). After relishing the Himalayan view from the top of the pass, we descend to Nagoru on a moraine path. Overnight at a tented camp in Nagoru.
Day 16: Trek from Nagoru to Phu Gaon 4080m/5-6 hours,
Relishing the view of Himlung (7126m), Nemjung (7140m) Cheo (6812m), Pokarkang (6372m), we trek from Nagoru to the ancient Phu Gaon in the Nar Phu Valley. Phu Gaon is inhabited by people of mixed ethnicity such as Lama, Gurung, and Ghale allowing us to observe the traditional Buddhist culture and lifestyle. The very ancient Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery in Phu Gaon is registered as one of the world's 108 great Buddhist Monasteries; it is believed to be one of the last monasteries built by Karmapa Rinpoche. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Phu Gaon.
Day 17: Trek from Phu Gaon to Meta 3560m/5-6 hours,
Walk on the highland, cross the gate at the end of the village and descend in the constricted valley to reach Kyang. We can observe the ruins of abandoned castles of the Khampa settlement, a Tibetan descent that lived unlawfully at places like Jhunam, Chyakhu, and Kyang. Then, we continue on the downhill path to reach Meta. We can see the remarkable view of Kangaru Himal (6981m) and the Annapurna range. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Meta.
Day 18: Trek from Meta to Koto 2600m/6-7 hours,
We descend following Naar Khola downstream as we walk through the alpine forest. We cross many small streams and attractive waterfalls near Dharmasala. We cross over many suspension bridges and riverside settlements to finally reach Koto. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Koto.
Day 19: Trek from Koto to Dharapani 1860m/5-6 hours,
We start our trek in the flat track crossing small villages until Timang via the pine forests. We can get glimpses of the Annapurna range and other snowy mountains en route. Then, we descend downhill to Danakyu through an uneven trail. We then walk on a smooth and flat trail until we arrive in Dharapani. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Dharapani.
Day 20: Trek from Dharapani to Jagat 1300m/5-6 hours
Descend to Marsyangdi River and pass the iron bridge just at end of Dharapani village. Walking alongside Marsyangdi River and crossing the river many times, we pass through the villages of Karte, Tal, Sattale, and Chamje on our way to Jagat. We come across a few waterfalls as we follow the Marsyangdi River downwards until we reach Jagat. Overnight at a lodge/guest-house in Jagat.
Day 21: Drive from Jagat to Kathmandu 7-8 hours,
As we end our trekking journey, we drive on our private vehicle from Jagat to Kathmandu following a scenic landscape throughout the way. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be dropped at your hotel. Feel free to get a taste of Kathmandu. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 22: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Our office representative will drop you at the airport a few hours before the flight time. We hope to see you again.
