Rooted in the northeast of Kathmandu, Dhampus Peak, also known as Thapa Peak, towers in the midst of the glorious Himalayan trail. It is situated in between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range offering us with the views of wide varieties of vegetation and landscapes making each spot open to observe the scenic beauty of this region. The peak climbing journey offers an adventure, a cultural excursion and scenic escapade to this beautiful region.   

Dhampus Peak Climbing journey starts from Darbang after a scenic flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu. On our way, we will acclimatize often to the increasing height and avoid altitude sickness. It provides the mountaineering enthusiasts an opportunity to explore around the less popular off-beaten trails of Dhaulagiri Circuit. On summiting the Dhampus peak we will see nearly 30-40 peaks lying in between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. With the close views of Tukuche Peak (6920m) and Dhaulagiri (8167m), we can relish in the journey and scenic pleasure that we are offered. We can get a clear view of the whole Kali Gandaki region from the top. It is a great peak climbing option in the Annapurna region offering us with the stunning Himalayan views of the Annapurna regions. Along with the natural beauty, the cultural experience during the journey is magnificent as well. The Buddhist faith of the inhabitants along with heart-warming hospitality adds more flavor to the travel. The Dhampus peak climbing requires no prior technical climbing experience but a good physical fitness along with the desire to climb is mandatory.

Dhampus Peak Climbing Itinerary 
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1338m

On your arrival in Kathmandu Valley, our staff member will pick you up and escort you to the Hotel. You can spend the rest of the day as you please as there aren’t any scheduled activities. Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Full Day guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley
This day will be reserved for sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley in a private car with an experienced tour guide. We visit Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa. Each of these places holds great meaning in their respective religion and also possess individual brilliance on upholding the ancient heritage and culture from ancient times. In the evening, we will visit the office complete the official procedure and return back to the hotel. Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and drive to Darbang 1110m via Beni by private vehicle
Today we will drive back to the airport and catch a scenic flight to Pokhara. On reaching Pokhara we will drive to Darbang in a private car. On our way, we will cross many tranquil villages and beautiful forests on our way to Darbang. We will stop at Beni for our lunch and refreshment. On reaching Darbang we will search a good camping place. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Darbang. 

Day 4: Trek from Darbang to Sibang 1780m
This will be our first day of trekking as we head to Sibang. The trail mostly follows the farmlands of rice, millet, barley, and maize. Crossing the farmlands we will continue along the main path to Sibang. Sibang is a small village with few houses and the culture of the inhabitants are a great treat to observe. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Sibang. 

Day 5: Trek from Sibang to Muri 1720m
From Sibang, the trail climbs up the snout of the ridge and then descends to the bank of Gatti Khola. From here, we will ascend along the path leading us to the Phalai Gaon. Phalai Gaon is a small village with few houses and tea shops. We will cross Dhara Khola and Myagdi Khola to reach Muri which is a small Magar village. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Muri. 

Day 6: Trek from Muri to Boghara 2080m
We will leave Muri early in the morning and continue along the trail which descends steeply to the suspension bridge over the Muri Khola. On crossing the suspension bridge, we will head towards an ascending trail along the dense Bamboo and rhododendron forests. We will cross few farmhouses and head towards the north of the valley which opens out in the large green fields before reaching Boghara. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Boghara.

Day 7: Trek from Boghara to Dobang 2520m
Leaving Boghara, we will head toward Dobang. The trail passes along the bank of Marsayangdi Khola and crosses few green subtropical forests to Lipshe. From here, we will pass picturesque villages on our way. The locals are also proficient wild honey collectors. Crossing a few forests we will reach Dobang. It is a small settlement area with few teahouses and some good camping sites.  Overnight stay at a tented camp in Dobang. 

Day 8: Trek from Dobang to Choriban 3445m
The route traverses through the dense rhododendron and Bamboo forests. The forests bloom with flowers all over the trail as we head further towards Choriban. From there we will cross Myagdi Khola over a suspension Bridge and climbs along the east bank of Myagdi Khola. Following the green dense forests, we will reach Choriban.  Overnight stay at a tented camp in Choriban. 

Day 9: Trek from Choriban to Italian Base Camp 3660m
Today, we will head towards the Italian Base Camp. Following the trail passing through the rhododendron, pine and fir forests, we will climb to the lateral moraines. From there, we will head a bit further and reach Italian Base Camp from where the views of the beautiful mountain including the stunning Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) reveal themselves. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Italian Base Camp. 

Day 10: Acclimatization Day
Acclimatization is very important at the higher altitude due to the thinning air of this region. We need to acclimatize ourselves by exploring around the Italian camp or hiking at a certain altitude or just by taking rest before climbing the Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Italian Base Camp.

Day 11: Trek from Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp 4200m
We will leave Italian Base Camp in the early morning as the trail is most challenging today. We will follow the guidelines of our trek leader. Initially, our trail descends steeply down along the slippery icy glaciers making the trail very challenging and difficult. From there, we will walk along the moraine to Chhonbardan gorge and then continue to Glacier Camp. Glacier Camp is situated in between the Italian camp and Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Glacier Camp.

Day 12: Trek from Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp 4748m
We will climb along the rocky ridgeline which almost covered by snow along the moraines. We will have to apply utmost caution while climbing up the Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Today, the ascent will be along the glaciers and moraines. Enjoying the beautiful views of mountain ranges, we will set our camp. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Day 13: Acclimatization Day
It is another day for acclimatization and it is very crucial to adjust our bodies to the increasing elevation. The process will be around Dhaulagiri Base Camp and we will take hikes around the area. We can explore the base camp and enjoy the stunning views of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak 6920m, and other mountains in the Dhaulagiri range.  Overnight stay at a tented camp in Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Day 14: Trek from Dhaulagiri Base Camp to Hidden Valley 5180m via French Pass 5360m
Today, we will start to trek in the early morning, climbing over the Chhonbardan glacier and continue along the lateral moraine. Enjoying the beautiful mountain views of Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and Tukuche Peak (6920m), we will make our final ascent to challenging French pass. We will spend some there and capture the stunning views of the mountains like (Dhaulagiri 8167m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Mukut Himal (5970m), and other glorious peaks. After that, we will descend along the icy steep slopes to the hidden valley. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Hidden Valley.

Day 15: Trek from Hidden Valley to Dhampus High Camp 5400m via Dhampus Pass 5258m
Enjoying the beautiful sunrise views over the high mountains, we will leave for Dhampus High camp. Our trail mostly passes through the alpine vegetation along with the views of high snow-capped mountains to Dhampus Pass which is also a good camping site. From here, we will gradually climb over the glacial mountains to high camps. Upon reaching, we will arrange all the required equipment for summiting and set up our camp. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Dhampus Base Camp.

Day 16: Summit from High Camp to Dhampus Peak 6012m and back to Alu Bari 3900m
Accepting all the challenges and traversing along the technical spots under the guidance of an experienced climbing expert, we will summit the Dhampus Peak which is at the height of 6012m from sea level. On the completion of the climb, we will be rewarded with stunning views of Nilgiri and Annapurna massif, Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tilicho peak (7134m), Tukuche Peak (6920m) and other snow-capped peaks. After spending some time there, we will descend back to Alu Bari. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Alu Bari.

Day 17: Trek from Alu Bari to Jomsom 2720m via Marpha 2670m
The descending trail along the forested landscapes will head us Marpha. Marpha is a small settlement area famous for the apples and the apple wines. The trail mostly descends through the forests and small settlements along the bank of Kali Gandaki River. Following the sandy trails, we will arrive at Jomsom.  Overnight stay at a tented camp in Jomsom.

Day 18: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara and afternoon flight back to Kathmandu 
We will take an early morning flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. A scenic flight over the green valleys will take us to the beautiful city of Pokhara. On reaching Pokhara we will leave for Kathmandu. A short flight of around 30-35 minutes will take us to Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu we will transfer you to the Hotel. Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Full Day guied Sightseeing Tour in Bhaktapur and Patan City
Today will be the free day for us we will do sightseeing around Bhaktapur and Patan city in our private vehicle. These are the sites enlisted as world heritage sites by UNESCO.  We can do souvenir shopping in the Kathmandu valley. In the evening, we will drive you back to the hotel. Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Departure from Kathmandu 
This will be your final day in Kathmandu. We will drive you back to Tribhuvan International airport for your scheduled flight.
